Reshaping business and the world by leveraging knowledge intangibles

In our monthly IC Practitioners program this week, Peter Spence made the following suggestion:

"Does anyone consider there would be value in initiating collaborative IC projects via the ICKC?"

What do you think? Could we? Should we? How would we do it?

Hello Mary,

As I made the suggestion, I thought I would start off with a few thoughts in support of the proposal and look forward to the comments of other members as to the merit/potential of the suggestion and other reasons and how we could go about it.  As a start:

Could We:  Yes, I strongly believe it is possible – we are only limited by the level of interest and support from members within the Intangible Capital Knowledge Center (ICKC).

Should We:  Again, this depends upon member interest – however, in the spirit of ICKC, I believe this should be a natural extension of the group and the advantage of collaboration – bringing together diverse members with the necessary expertise, resources, interest/commitment etc; to solve a particular problem (achieve a common goal etc) – in doing so achieving more that any one of us could achieve alone – creating more value and innovation through collaboration.

How would we:  Perhaps the addition of a collaborative projects forum on the ICKC website or links – A forum for posting and promoting topics, projects, IC promotion initiatives/marketing etc, to identify and engage interested parties – parties with the relevant interest, expertise, resources etc, may register to participate/contribute – incorporate the development/agreement of protocols re IP, licence to use, etc.

The ICKC wiki site/initiative is an example of one collaborative project – as it matures/evolves it has considerable potential for further development of IC/KM concepts, joint papers, templates, bibliographies etc.

Further development of ‘proof of concepts’ and existing pilot solutions (adding value through collaboration) – i.e. collaborative work/exploration/trials around particular ideas, initiatives, and opportunities -    for example: exploring/developing a relationship management system that is based upon IC mobilisation, reporting and measurement principles (incorporating mash up of other collaboration/IC/KM tools).

Opportunities for members to register and collaborate with existing IC/KM activities/projects undertaken by other members – potential to add value by drawing upon diverse expertise, resources, perspectives etc – collaborative advantage – and subsequent wider network to promote project initiatives – opportunity for members to gain experience and learn from others.

Potential use of online collaborative project management tools linked to the ICKC or affiliations?

Webinar/webnet approach to facilitate collaborative development meetings on particular topics/projects of interest.

Looking forward to thoughts expressed by others on the topic.  Kind Regards, Peter
