Reshaping business and the world by leveraging knowledge intangibles

We had a very energetic conversation about how different members work with IC. Below is the comment stream that contains some great ideas.

I would particularly like to highlight:

  • Getting clients to present on how IC worked (or not) for them
  • Sharing events that you will attend around the world so others can plan to meet you (this is easy to do--just create an event on the site and put up your comments)
  • Some had interest in figuring out how to do collaborative IC projects via the ICKC (we would have to schedule a meeting for this--let me know if you are interested and I can try to help coordinate)

One learning I had is that it would be good for people to speak and also to include their info in the comment stream so we preserve it!

Full comment stream below:

Stephen Selby: Hi everybody. Happy NY

Xiaomi An: Hello, nice to attend the meeting.

Mary Adams (presenters): Hi Xiaomi - Welcome!

Thomas Mathiasen: cool! This is nice

jay chatzkel: Good morning..

Mary Adams: OK. Great

Mary Adams: The link Stephen Selby mentioned: http://www.ipd.gov.hk/eng/icm.htm

Xiaomi An: Do you have special IC report for University Laboratory measuring and reporting?

Peter Spence: As the CEO of a Primary Health Care Organisation I place strong importance upon the development of IC in coordination and delivery of health care - placing a strong emphasis upon IC principles in the development and delivery of integrative models of care.  I am also the principal of SPANS, a Strategic Planning and Negotiation Services consultancy......and conducting research into the use of Negotiation training in the development of Collaborative Enterprises - my research has led me deeper into the field of KM, Intangible Capital, Collaboration, network analysis and expanding upon the concept of the connected or collaborative negotiator (crossroads of negotiation; collaboration and IC).  I am particularly interested in the development of relationship capital and development of cross boundary collaboration - both internally (HC) and externally (RC) and merging of both.   I would hope to learn more from fellow members of the ICKC and IC Practitioners

Mary Adams: We also work with IC from a value point of view in my firm

Gordon McConnachie: Xiaomi the country that does most on this is Austria .....can communicate offline about contacts.

Xiaomi An: Do you have examples of integrating IC reporting into e-government performance assement reporting?

Stephen Selby: We did do an IC Report for my own Department, which covered e-government issues.

Peter Spence: ...IC Practitioners group in this particular field of interest - examples/case studies etc; and the opportunity to share knowledge with fellow members.

Stephen Selby: The Hong Kong IP Department's IC REport is included on this list: http://www.ipd.gov.hk/eng/ICM/intellectual_capital_statements_09.htm

jay chatzkel: My interests are in how knowledge can be valued and leveraged to create value in organizatons that are involved in acquistions.  I co-authored a book called beyond the deal with Hubert Saint-Onge called Beyond the Deal: Mergers and Acquisitions that achieve Breakthrough Performance Gains.  The goal was to take on an issue that could have very sizable difference in the business.  Anything less than success can be a quite costly failure.  There is an enormous amount of personal and organizational knowledge that goes untapped but could be leaveraged to create unprecedented value.  After the book was published I decided to begin a newsletter (www.beyondthedeal.net/Newsletter.html).  There world continues to evolve and new perspectives have emerged that expand the range of what is involved to include social media, changing technologies for managing the M&A integration process, community management and dynamic change management etc.  I expect to be presenting on this in March on this.  Please visit the www.beyondthedeal.net

Xiaomi An: We are trying to embedding our BRK ( integrated business process, recordkeeping process and knowlege  management ) methodology for  IC reporting for  key lab.

Xiaomi An: We hope to learn more about IC reporting for research institutions and research group.

Stephen Selby: Can we get a presentation from a client who has been through an ICM programme, letting us know their views on the current state of the art..?

Thomas Mathiasen: I´d second Stephens suggestion. That would also bridge theory and practice.

Stephen Selby: I might be able to find someone.

Stephen Selby: WE have actually rolled out satisfied customers before as part of our sales pitch.

Xiaomi An: We have developed a template and a set of indicators for measuring the IC of our rearch group.

Stephen Selby: Or do you want a dissatisfied customer :-) ?

Thomas Mathiasen: Perhaps a dissatisfied customer - and hear why!

Xiaomi An: We hope to learn the employment of IC approaches to e-government performance assement.

Gordon McConnachie: The great plus for this forum is its diversity

Stephen Selby: It would be nice if our group would share what international events they will be attending during 2012, so we can meet face-to-face.

Peter Spence: Does anyone consider there would be value in initiating collaborative IC projects via the ICKC?

Xiaomi An: Great idea!

Gordon McConnachie: yes that is one of the possibilities for the group

Xiaomi An: I am helping Beijing municipal government improve their e-government performance measurement reporting, and hope to embedded in IC indicators into their new assessment framework.

Thomas Mathiasen: @Peter: super idea. We could have a netmeeting, trying to develop the concept

Gordon McConnachie: no problem

Thomas Mathiasen: @Mary - great job you did. And thank you for your patience.

Xiaomi An: Thanks for Mary's great contribution to build the community.

Peter Spence: Wonderful to hear - very interested.  Again Mary, despite the technical difficulties, the monthly forums have been very valuable and great medium for sharing and learning from one another - thank you and to all participating!

Stephen Selby: Thanks for everything and have a great new year.

Joao Paulo Braga: Thank you all. Congrats again for the initiative. Happy new year, from Brazil.

Stephen Selby: Valentine's Day!!!

Thomas Mathiasen: Bye

Hello IC Friends, sorry to have missed today. I was on a flight between Paris and New York. Some quick remarks related to the good conversatin above;

- for IC reporting of Lab look into www.cm.ki.se

- for e-governments there is a lot among others from European Commission

- I like the idea of collective IC in action...

Happy future
