Profile Information

What is your interest in IC?
I have worked in IC and intangibles for over ten years and was part of the team that helped establish and set up the Scottish Intellectual Asset Centre. I am particualrly interested in IC reporting as a tool to assist in business development and strategy and also as a way to illustrate the true value of an organisation or the return on an investment etc. ICM should be at the core of every business or organisation to guide, inform and direct strategy to achieve growth and success
For you, what is the definition of IC?
IC is the sum of all the value creating assets/sources in a business or organisation in all its forms from people to knowledge. The real key to IC is in undertsanding that it can be almost anything that a business needs in order to operate, it is nearly always related to knowledge of some kind. The value of IC cannot be realised without making that knowledge work, using it applying it and COMMUNICATING it in the right wayu at the right time to the right audience!
How does IC relate to your work?
IC is part of how I deliver my services - whether it be helping a business to develop a buisness plan or think about their strategy or plan a marketing campaign. In developing research and development projects and ideas IC is part of the proposal wehre is it, how can we extract maximum value from it and of course clearly understanding and articulating what IC is there and in what form
