Kelli Proia replied to Michael D. Moberly's discussion 'Corporate (Trade) Secrets = Intellectual Capital'
Mary, There are a few things a company can do to better manage their risk in this open internet-powered world. 1. Recognize the risk. Foreign Governments (friend and foe alike) and foreign and domestic companies are spying on US businesses. Some…

Kelli Proia replied to Michael D. Moberly's discussion 'Corporate (Trade) Secrets = Intellectual Capital'
I certainly agree that trade secrets are important business assets of a company. That sentiment is exactly why I founded my business, IPinFocus. Too many organizations do not treat their intellectual capital (and intellectual property) like the…

Profile Information

What is your interest in IC?
I work to get intellectual property owners to rethink what their intellectual assets are (i.e., they're not just patents or trademarks), how they impact their organizations (i.e., those assets have value), and why it's important that they recognize them in a meaningful way (i.e., it's just not about getting a patent!)
For you, what is the definition of IC?
I have always viewed Intellectual Capital as the soul of an organization. It's the unseen force the permeates all organizations and brings them to life, so to speak. Without it, the organization would not exist. Intellectual capital is the name we put to our efforts to recognize and value 'knowledge' in all its forms.
How does IC relate to your work?
Through my firm, IP in Focus, I offer innovative IP management solutions to intellectual property owners. I help my clients recognize the value in their intellectual property . Through my IP management system, IP in Focus, IP owners create a pro-IP culture across the organization where all employees and departments understand their role in IP Management, ultimately, promoting the creation, protection, valuation, and utilization of their Intellectual Capital.
Where can we learn more about you on the web? (LinkedIn, Facebook, Website (you can add more later on your profile page)
