What is the Relationship Between IC and Financial Results
1 Reply

IC concepts are so new that sometimes the meaning of all the work we do can get lost in the deluge of new ideas. In some research we did on early IC adopters in late 2008, we found that even manageme…

What is your interest in IC?
IC is core to the success of my clients.

As a consultant, speaker, writer and innovator, I see the need for better understanding, management and measurement of IC in almost every company today.

My work with the IC Knowledge Center is a reflection of my view that there is much work left to be done in this field--and we need an open, collaborative community to ensure our collective success.

My networks

My primary blog/website is Smarter Companies reflecting my work with I-Capital Advisors, a practice within Trek Consulting.

The website for the book I co-authored with Michael Oleksak will be up soon. You can read about it now (and pre-order it for May:) at our publisher's site: Greenwood Press.

Ideas Connect Us More Than Relationships

I was struck by this blog post today by Hutch Carpenter entitled Why Ideas are Core to Enterprise 2.0. He talks about all the hype about social media and asserts that it is really ideas that link communities together. He says:

Ideas have a unique quality in team and community forming, consistent with the emergent nature of Enterprise 2.0

Anyone going to ECIC in March?

I just put up a listing for the European Conference on Intellectual Capital which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal on March 29 and 30. I went to last year's conference and found it really valuable but won't be able to go this year.

Are you going to the ECIC in March? It would be great to share the message about the ICKC. I would also love to figure out a way to work with someone to get their agenda on the site, have so… Continue

Dealing with the knowledge economy: intellectual capital versus balanced scorecard

I still haven't loaded a lot of my own content into this new site (I intend to and encourage all our members to do so as well). But, in the meantime, I thought that it would be helpful to start adding some links to other folk's content (books, articles, presentations, videos) that I have also found helpful. This is a start. I hope that others will follow with more suggestions....

If I had to pick one article that sums up the perspective of the field of IC, it is this article,… Continue

Could it be that IC is in the Ignorance space, outside the traditional KM system of old Accounting? It is invisible, it is intangi ble and it is in the in-between space. Looking at social media it looks like this is verifying the importance of Relational Capital as the key driver.
